At least 38 Vistara flights from key cities were canceled this morning as the airline reeled from unavailability of pilots. As many as 15 flights from Mumbai, 12 from Delhi and 11 from Bengaluru were cancelled.
This comes after 50 Vistara flights were canceled and 160 were delayed yesterday. Speaking to WhatsNew2Day yesterday, passengers had complained of poor communication and hours of waiting at the airport and severely criticized the airline for harassing passengers.
Vistara said in a statement yesterday that they have experienced a “significant number” of flight cancellations and delays in recent days “due to various reasons, including crew unavailability”.
:We acknowledge and are deeply concerned about the inconvenience this has caused to our customers. That said, our teams are working to minimize customer inconvenience,” the company said.
The airline also said it has decided to temporarily reduce the number of flights it operates “to ensure adequate connectivity within our network”.
“We have also deployed larger aircraft such as our B787-9 Dreamliner and A321neo on selected domestic routes to combine flights or accommodate a larger number of customers where possible. Additionally, where applicable, we will offer alternative flight options or refunds to affected customers. Once again, we understand that these disruptions have caused tremendous inconvenience to our customers, and we sincerely apologize to them for this. We are working to stabilize the situation and will resume normal capacity very soon,” the statement said.
