Veteran ABC radio star confirms he has been sacked from his weekend show in ‘shock’ decision

Veteran radio star Simon Marnie has confirmed he has been sacked from his long-running weekend show.

Marnie took to Instagram on Thursday morning to share the “shocking” news that her time fronting the NSW Weekend Mornings show had come to an end.

The announcement has come as a shock to Marnie fans as she has worked with the national broadcaster for over 25 years.

He wrote on Instagram: “After about a week of speculation, I can confirm that ABC has examined their weekend structure in 2025 and informed me that they do not have a role for me in that structure.”

‘This was a shock and I’m still processing what it means to me.

‘If you’re in Sydney on Sunday, I’d love for you to join me one last time for the weekend program’s Christmas Picnic outside broadcast at Jazz @ The House in the grounds of Government House.

‘Please come with me. Sunday, December 1, 10 – noon the broadcast. Jazz at the House all day.
