Vanderpump Rules is undergoing a major shakeup.

Bravo has announced that the upcoming season 12 will star an entirely new cast.

The new cast is made up of ‘“Tight-knit SUR-vers who are as involved with each other as their iconic predecessor,” the network announced in a statement revealing the show’s return.

Lisa Vanderpump will return and the next season will begin filming next year. The new cast and premiere date will be announced later.

DailyMail.com has contacted a representative for NBCUniversal, Bravo’s parent company, for comment.

While the cast has changed over the years, last season’s top stars were Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney, Lala Kent, James Kennedy and Scheana Shay.

“How exciting it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again,” executive producer Alex Baskin said in the statement.

“With a deep appreciation for the original group and their iconic journey, we can’t wait for audiences to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together,” he said.

“Under the watchful eye of Lisa Vanderpump, West Hollywood mainstay SUR, and now TomTom, welcomes the next group of servers, hosts and bartenders full of drama, situations and enemies,” the statement said.

Lisa stated in the announcement: “The last 12 years of filming have been extraordinary, full of laughter, tears and everything in between. I can’t thank those who have shared their lives enough.

‘How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules,” he said.

Additionally, the show will “celebrate the last decade of heartbreak, friendship breakups and scandals with a special retrospective highlighting the past 11 seasons,” the release states.

TMZ reports that the original cast found out about the show’s new direction last night.

Most of the original stars reportedly weren’t too surprised by the shakeup, especially after the show’s recent hiatus.

Insiders say the original stars will remain connected to Bravo, and Schwartz, Lala, Scheana and her husband Brock Davies will reportedly appear in The Valley’s second season.

The outlet also notes that the original cast will be able to explore other opportunities in the NBC Universal/Bravo family.

The outlet previously reported that the production had been filming SUR-vers in September, however at the time insiders claimed they were filming a new project.

A spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules first began airing in 2013 and followed the lives of waiters working for Lisa Vanderpump’s various restaurants in Los Angeles.

At the time, it also starred Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute, who are no longer on the show.

The series’ tenth season, arguably the show’s most consequential, earned the show’s first Emmy nomination.

During that particular season, it was revealed that Sandoval had been cheating on his long-time girlfriend, Ariana Madix, with his co-star Rachel Leviss, an explosive controversy that became known to fans as ‘Scandoval.’

The fallout was explored in depth in the following 11th series, but in April this year it was reported that production on season 12 had been suspended to allow the cast to “decompress” following the controversy.

“Everyone needs a moment to relax after two very tough and intense seasons,” said a source. Page six. “Cast hopes to take a break from filming the show”.

Madix’s career flourished after Scandoval, with starring roles on Chicago, Dancing With The Stars and even a presenting role on Love Island USA.

But Madix wasn’t completely convinced she would return to the show in April.

During an appearance at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the star said it “would have to make sense to me” to return, according to Page six.

“Our show has always thrived, it’s always at its best when it’s most authentic and most real, and I have to be able to show up and be real and authentic for it to make sense to me.” she said.

“So that’s the question I would ask myself when approaching it.”

Given the news, Lala Kent and Katie Maloney paid tribute to their time on the show on social media.

Lala acknowledged she had “mixed feelings” about the departure as she reflected on her time on the show with a lengthy message and several memories.

‘Where to start. I was a young woman from Salt Lake City who came to Los Angeles. I introduced myself as Lauren, but since my childhood best friend referred to me as Lala, my nickname quickly stuck. Sur was a place that became home. Not only did I find myself drinking vodka sodas there, but also behind a hostess booth… to this day it remains the most intimidating job I’ve ever had.

‘Shortly after, I was presented with the opportunity to be on a show called Vanderpump Rules. I have mixed feelings right now. It’s no secret that I don’t like change. This is the exception. I want to thank you for being with us for so many years. This program changed my entire life. I am incredibly grateful for every moment. I am incredibly grateful for Bravo, for NBCU, for our team, for the entire cast, and most importantly, for all of you. We shook this bitch until the wheels fell off.

Katie posted a throwback to the show featuring title track ‘Raise Your Glass’ while writing: ‘It’s a mixed bag.’ But I wouldn’t change anything. Thank you for the memories and love of the last 11 years.”
