Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce is apparently on board with former NFL star Robert Gronkowski’s dream of playing on the same team.

The Kansas City Chiefs star and Gronkowski have been hailed as two of the best tight ends the NFL has ever seen, with three and four Super Bowl titles to their names, respectively.

The duo has dominated their position for the past decade, sparking debates among NFL fans over who has the right to the GOAT title.

But Gronkowski, despite hanging up his cleats in 2022, recently stated that the idea of him and Kelce teaming up would be lethal.

“I think it would be perfect if we were both on the same team,” he told his former teammate Julian Edelman on his podcast, DudesOnDudes, this week.

‘I feel like we play against each other, we’re different players. His aspect of the game, how he can line up anywhere. How it can move to any point on the field at any given time. I was kind of a guy who said, “Tom (Brady), do I have to make a move to cross the line of scrimmage?” I’m too big to make a move. Travis is lighter, you can make a move on him.

“We would congratulate each other incredibly and I would say that we would have been one of the best duos to play, if we had played together. We would have broken records.

Kelce responded to Gronkowski’s claims by insisting that the idea of them becoming teammates would be “unfair.”

In response to the clip shared by the DudesOnDudes X account, Kelce posted: ‘Friends…. Same team!?!? It would be unfair!!’

“I imagined passing the ball down the field to @RobGronkowski,” he added along with two laughing emojis.

Gronkowski played for the New England Patriots from 2010 to 2018, winning three Super Bowls in the Brady-Bill Belichick era, before following the quarterback to Tampa Bay.

The 35-year-old initially announced he would retire after nine seasons in March 2019, but came out of retirement in 2020 to reunite with Brady for the Buccaneers.

The pair helped Tampa Bay beat Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV that season.

Gronkowski was a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro, while Kelce already has nine Pro Bowl selections and four first-team All-Pro honors.
