A couple have sparked fierce debate after revealing the unconventional “rules” of their relationship.
Lexi Klimpfinger, from Los Angeles, has been with her boyfriend Jack for almost three years.
And to keep their relationship running smoothly, the couple has accumulated a list of untraditional guidelines.
This includes Lexi, who is a graphic designer and social media manager, being able to accept free drinks from other men on nights out, and server Jack flirting while at work to get better tips.
Lexi Klimpfinger, from Los Angeles, has been with her boyfriend Jack for almost three years, but she has a list of unconventional relationship “rules.”
This includes Lexi, who is a graphic designer and social media manager, being able to accept free drinks from other men on nights out and server Jack flirting while at work to get better tips.
“There was never a clear moment when we decided on these rules, they just came naturally as the relationship progressed. We both agreed that they felt right for us,” Lexi said.
“None of these rules have caused any problems between us,” Lexi explained.
‘There was never a clear moment when we decided on these rules, they just came naturally as the relationship progressed. We both agreed that they seemed right to us.’
The first premise is that Lexi is allowed to bag free drinks while she’s out.
She said: “If I’m ever in a bar, with or without Jack, we both feel it’s no big deal if I accept a drink from another man.”
‘It is the responsibility of the man offering to make his intentions clear or ask if I am in a relationship.
‘I have never lied or said that I didn’t have a boyfriend but they almost always don’t ask me.
‘I don’t lie or cheat, I simply accept a drink that is offered to me.
‘I can see this is controversial. I know that many relationships don’t have such strong trust in each other and might fear that this will lead to their partner cheating on them.’
The couple, who met in college when they were neighbors, also openly talk about their celebrity crushes.
Another rule that Lexi and Jack follow is that Jack flirts with female customers to get higher tips, and many of them leave their numbers on the bill.
Jack also regularly messages Lexi’s best friend, but their mutual trust means that’s never a problem.
Lexi explained: ‘I can see how this could be controversial due to lack of trust.
‘But I have 100 per cent trust in my best friend and she would never do anything to hurt me.
‘We have been friends for more than 10 years and I know her better than anyone.
“If someone is worried that their best friend and their boyfriend are getting together and cheating on them, there’s clearly a trust issue.”
“If you think they would ever do that to you, maybe it’s a sign to get better friends and a better boyfriend.”
The couple, who met in college when they were neighbors, also openly talk about their celebrity crushes.
Lexi explained: ‘The idea that you’ll never find another person attractive when you’re dating someone is ridiculous.
‘We have done this since the beginning of our relationship and it has never bothered either of us because we are sure of how attractive we find each other.
‘It’s not humane to say that once you’re in a relationship you’ll never find another attractive one. That is simply impossible.
Lexi shared, “Our family and friends are very supportive and believe we have a very open and healthy relationship.”
‘I can see how talking loudly can make someone feel insecure because they look nothing like that particular celebrity, and if that makes your partner feel insecure then definitely don’t do it.
‘But if it doesn’t bother either of you, then everything’s fine!’
Lexi previously unraveled the rules in a now-viral TikTok clip, but not everyone online was convinced.
One person asked: ‘Do you even love each other?’
“It’s a little strange to intentionally guide people for their own financial benefit,” said another reviewer.
“I was with you at first, but things got worse,” someone else said.
On the other hand, others insisted that the rules were fine.
One person commented: “These aren’t controversial, it’s just a healthy relationship.”
“I honestly think the free drinks are valid,” another user agreed.
Lexi added: “I would like to add that my boyfriend and I are very much in love, even after two and a half years. And we have a very healthy, open relationship, full of mutual respect.”

Gauging the reaction online, Lexi claimed that not everyone was quick to support her.
Lexi said of the ‘divided’ online reaction to her post: ‘I’d say half the responses are very positive, praising us for how healthy and trustworthy our relationship seems to be.
‘The other half have been people who think we are crazy and that one of us is forced to deceive the other.
‘Our family and friends are very supportive and believe we have a very open and healthy relationship.
