New details have emerged about Latrell Mitchell’s public feud with Braith Anasta as colleagues criticized Fox Sports TV’s identity over the recent “incident” at a posh Sydney restaurant.

Anasta, 42, was dining at Chin Chin in Surry Hills on May 15 with his family when the Rabbitohs defender approached him at his table.

Mitchell insisted Anasta had been too harsh when it came to criticizing the struggling Rabbitohs on TV show NRL 360 and wanted to have his say on the matter.

The conversation between the couple continued privately outside and, although animated, did not become physical.

It is understood that both men stood their ground and agreed to disagree, and it can now be revealed that Mitchell did not explain to Anasta where he had allegedly crossed the line.

Anasta is also the coach of South Sydney halfback Lachlan Ilias, who is expected to leave the club.

“Latrell is out of commission and someone in South Sydney has to take his coat,” Fox Sports rugby league journalist James Hooper told Triple M.

“I think the only guy who can probably get Latrell back to his best is Wayne (Bennett). That’s why the Southerners have gone after Wayne so hard.

‘My understanding of this situation is when Latrell was asked: “Okay, let’s discuss it, what’s your problem?” Why are you angry? Why do you think I have an agenda against you?

‘There was nothing, he (Mitchell) couldn’t get anything out except insults.

“That’s not the right way to handle things.”

Anasta, who was reportedly furious that the conversation with Mitchell became public, had to endure light-hearted jabs from some of his colleagues on NRL 360 on Monday.

Among them were veteran News Corp writer Phil Rothfield and former champion racer Cooper Cronk.

Rothfield said, “You can’t afford to have another fight here after what happened at Chin Chin,” while Cronk said, “I think Latrell would have had you, by the way.”

Jokingly, Anasta threatened to “go out and sort it out” with both men, prompting a chorus of laughter on live television.
