Sunita, wife of jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, today entered the political arena with a fiery speech attacking the BJP-led central government for allegedly targeting the opposition with central agencies in the run-up to the national elections .
At a massive rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, attended by leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc including Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, Mehbooba Mufti and Mallikarjun Kharge, Sunita Kejriwal read out a message sent by her captive husband.
“The people of India support Arvind Kejriwal. He cannot stay in jail forever,” Sunita Kejriwal said today in her first ever major political speech before hundreds of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters.
“I am not asking for votes from you. I am not asking you to help defeat anyone in elections. I am only asking 140 crore Indians to help take this country forward,” said Sunita Kejriwal, echoing her husband’s message from the prison quoted.
She also supported the opposition INDIA bloc and said it is not just INDIA by name but “India is in our hearts”
She then read out six guarantees that Arvind Kejriwal had written in prison.
“Firstly, there will be no power outages across the country. Second, electricity will be free for the poor throughout the country. Third, every village will have a good school where children from all walks of life receive quality education. The village will have a mohalla clinic and each zilla will have a multi-specialty government hospital. Fifth, farmers will get good minimum support price as per Swaminathan report. And sixth, the people of Delhi will have been treated unfairly for years. We will end This injustice. The people of Delhi will get a state,” Sunita Kejriwal said.
