Sanju Samson Stands Ground As Krunal Pandya Misses Catch. Here's What Happened Next | Cricket News

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Krunal Pandya were involved in a light-hearted moment during their IPL 2024 match in Jaipur on Sunday. The incident took place on the second ball of the sixth over of RR’s innings, with Riyan Parag in the middle alongside Samson. Parag mistimed his shot as Krunal’s delivery found the top edge of his bat. The ball flew towards the non-attacker’s end. Krunal tried to complete a catch and bowl but Samson, who was at the non-striker’s end, held firm, denying Krunal a wicket in the process.

Despite this, Krunal hugged Samson in a light-hearted moment, which went viral on social media.

Coming back to the match, RR captain Samson won the toss and chose to bowl against LSG at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Speaking at the toss, Samson said that Riyan Parag will be their number four batsman. He added that Rovman Powell could feature as an impact player during the match.

“We would like to bat first today. It seems like a good batting wicket, we could do both, but we have a different combination today. Coming back to Jaipur gives a positive atmosphere in the dressing room. Riyan Parag will be our number 4, Jos, Hetty and Boult are there, Powell could be an impact player,” said Samson.

On the other hand, Rahul said that they would have batted first if they had won the toss. The LSG skipper also confirmed that Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran and Naveen-ul-Haq are their four foreign players.

“We would have batted first too, but the wicket looks good. I’m happy to be back on the field, injuries have become my best friend in recent years, but it makes you hungry and you perform much better when You are back. QdK, Pooran, Stoinis and Naveen-ul-Haq are our four overseas options. The focus for us right now is on this match,” Rahul said.
