Sabrina Carpenter has responded to a rumour that she asked her best friend Taylor Swift for permission to do an advert for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS.
The 25-year-old chart-topping artist opened up about her friendship with the 34-year-old megastar on her Variety cover story.
In April, the Espresso singer took social media by storm when she appeared in a sexy campaign for shapewear brand SKIMS, but many were left wondering if she had to ask Taylor’s permission to work with arch-nemesis Kim Kardashian.
She addressed those claims saying: ‘Well, Taylor is a rock star!
“She’s a gangster with all that stuff. No matter what people say, everything I’ve seen her tackle she’s done with grace. The posts about me having to ‘ask her permission’ no. She’s one of my best friends, and we have dinner together or text and catch up like you would with your best friend.”

In April, the Espresso singer took social media by storm when she appeared in a sexy campaign for shapewear brand SKIMS, but many questioned whether she had to ask Taylor’s permission to work with arch-nemesis Kim Kardashian.
She responded to those claims by saying: ‘Well, Taylor is a rock star. She’s a gangster with all that. No matter what people say, everything I’ve seen her tackle, she’s done with grace. The posts about me having to “ask her permission” no. She’s one of my best friends, and we have dinner or text and catch up like you would with your best friend’; the pals were spotted performing in Sydney in February.
Taylor and Kim, 43, have been locked in a feud since 2016, and rising star Sabrina is a close friend of Taylor’s and joined her as an opening act on several dates of her Eras tour.
Following the criticism she faced for working with The Kardashians star, speaking to Rolling StoneSabrina had already spoken about the controversial decision in June.
The Pennsylvania-born blonde insisted the collaboration did not cause any hard feelings between her and Taylor.
She told the publication: ‘As much as people want to believe that I’m on top of every little thing, that’s not the case because I’m constantly working.
‘In that scenario, I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I love her very much and I support her to the very end.
“So for me it wasn’t anything strange, but I know people will say things because it’s all they have time to do.”
The feud between Taylor and Kim began in 2016 when Kim released a recorded phone call in which she claimed Taylor gave consent for her then-husband Kanye West to write vulgar lyrics about her.
Since then, both stars have made several jokes and references to the feud, with Taylor specifically taking aim at it on her 2017 album Reputation.

Taylor and Kim, 43, have been embroiled in a feud since 2016, and rising star Sabrina is a close friend of Taylor’s, supporting her on several dates of her Eras tour (Taylor and Kim in 2015).
Following the backlash she faced for working with The Kardashians star, speaking to Rolling Stone, Sabrina previously opened up about the controversial decision in June (pictured September 2023).

The latest development came when the pop star released her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poet’s Department.
It included a song titled Thank You Aimee, stylized as ‘thanK you aIMee’, spelling Kim in all caps, which fans took as a reference to Kardashian due to their previous feud.
Meanwhile, Sabrina has been dating handsome Irish actor Barry Keoghan for almost a year.
The two have kept their relationship relatively private despite him starring as her love interest in her latest music video Please Please Please.
She made a rare comment about the 31-year-old Saltburn actor when she told Variety: “He loved the song. He’s obsessed with the lyrics and I’m so grateful for that.”
“I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation. So seeing him on screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and more special.”

Later in the interview with Thania Garcia, Sabrina addresses her celestial compatibility after going through an astrology book.
She said: ‘Barry is a Libra, just like my sister. They are very different, but they have similarities. I tend to gravitate towards Leos too.
“My father is a Capricorn, so that might not be the direction for my future.”
Her second studio album, Short n’ Sweet, will be released on Friday, August 23.
