A bar patron is furious after being charged $15.70 for a schooner of beer.

The patron bought a round of two beers on Good Friday while visiting El Loco at Slip Inn, in Sydney, without asking the price first.

He went to tap his card on the eftpos machine to pay for the drinks and thought nothing of it. He then realized after paying that he had been charged $31.55

The high price was due to a 15 percent holiday surcharge.

A pub patron was in shock after realizing he had been charged over $15.70 for a beer on Good Friday

If he had ordered the same two drinks outside of the Easter long weekend, he would have paid $13.70 for each beer.

The man cooled down his frustration reddit drawing a mixed response from social media users.

Many people said that the gambler should not be surprised by high prices on the holiday.

“You went to an expensive bar on a holiday and you’re shocked, shocked! at the price?’ one person wrote.

“Employee holiday rates are all weekend,” a second wrote.

Employees who were scheduled for Easter confirmed that it was a good weekend for them to work.

“Pretty happy to work this long weekend, no temptation to go out and overpay for drinks, (I get) double time plus half pay,” one wrote.

Another added, “Same here, 16 hours for $87 an hour.” Smiling all the way to the bank, well, smiling after paying the tax man.’

A large number of social media users called the prices too high.

“That’s loco!” person wrote.

‘Are you there for an unlucky hour? Prices are double,” wrote another.

“I’d be embarrassed to admit I paid for that,” a third wrote.

One person claimed they canceled a visit to El Loco after hearing about the prices.

“Was planning to go there tonight, but not anymore. F*** those prices forever,” they wrote.

The venue is run by Merivale, a hospitality company run by billionaire Justin Hemmes.

Several people criticized the company, saying the venues were known for overpriced food and drink.

“It’s what you can expect from a location in Merivale,” one wrote.

“These prices are outright extortion. Boycott these goddamn establishments and watch them shut down,” a second added.
