The country’s top investigative agencies are spread too thin and should focus only on cases involving national security and crimes against the nation, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said today. Delivering his 20th DP Kohli Memorial Lecture on CBI Raising Day, Justice Chandrachud also highlighted how technology has changed the landscape of crime and the organization now faces a complex challenge.
“The CBI is increasingly being asked to delve into various criminal cases that go beyond its role as an anti-corruption investigation agency. This puts a huge responsibility on the CBI to live up to its motto,” Justice Chandrachud said.
“The main research agencies are spread too thin. They should focus only on matters relating to national security and crimes or economic offenses against the nation,” the Chief Justice added.
