Supriya Shrinate said that many people have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts

New Delhi:

Amid the row over controversial comments on Kangana Ranaut on party leader Supriya Shrinate’s social media, the Congress on Tuesday said it has always believed that there is no place for such language in public debate and the matter should end with clearing the air by Mrs. Shrinate.

Ms Shrinate has already clarified that someone with access to her account made the post, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said at a press conference.

“She said she will find out who did it,” Dikshit said.

“There is no place for such language in public debate; Congress has always been clear about this. Supriya ji said: whoever did it, it was a mistake. She has explained and that should end the matter,” he added.

The Congress was in the crosshairs after derogatory comments about Ms Ranaut and Mandi were posted on the social media of its leaders Shrinate and HS Ahir.

Congress spokesperson Ms. Shrinate, in her defense on Monday, when the controversy broke out, said that many people have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts and one of them posted the inappropriate post. She also said she deleted the post and will take action against a parody account using her name.
