A woman who lost her leg in a horrific lawn-mowing accident just a week after her wedding has revealed her quick-thinking neighbors saved her life.
Megan Pascoe, 33, suffered catastrophic injuries after her foot was run over by a lawnmower at her new home in Paxton, in the Hunter region of New South Wales, on October 26.
Mrs Pascoe and her wife Stephanie Pascoe, 31, had bought the house in the village of about 1,200 people just six weeks earlier.
The newlywed was mowing the wildlife park in her front yard when the lawnmower hit an embankment, causing her to fall and the lawnmower to run over her foot.
In an inspiring TikTok video posted to her page calling herself ‘Pegleg Meg’, Pascoe explained how she let out a heartbreaking scream and her neighbors came running to her aid.
“Luckily, my wife was in the backyard at the time, so she heard me. She came running, she was the first to get to me,” he said.
She added: ‘My neighbor who lives across the street, I just remember she ran towards me and as she runs she takes off her top.
‘And I just remember thinking, what is she doing?’

She had only been married a week when she suffered catastrophic injuries in a lawnmower accident. Mrs Pascoe is pictured with her wife Stephanie at their wedding.
Pascoe said her neighbor used her shirt as a tourniquet, while other neighbors also removed their belts to help stop blood flow.
“That’s what saved my life,” he said.
“Without those tourniquets and without those people helping me, my outcome could have been extremely different.”
Ms Pascoe was flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where she underwent emergency surgery.
Unfortunately, due to his horrific injuries, he was told the next morning that his lower leg would need to be amputated below the knee.
She revealed exactly how the horrific accident unfolded when the lawnmower hit the embankment.
“I fell down that embankment and, unfortunately, I felt like I was falling off the lawnmower,” Pascoe said.
“So I instinctively stepped on my foot to try to stop myself from falling, and obviously my foot collided with the mower.”

Pascoe said his goal is to get a prosthetic leg. He is pictured with his wife Stephanie.
“So when that happened, obviously the lawnmower ran over my foot.”
Ms Pascoe explained that her lawn mower accelerates on its own, “there is only one brake”.
She revealed the terrifying moment she realized the lawnmower was still moving.
“So I was on the ground and obviously I looked up and I could see the mower was still moving on its own, and it just made this turn.”
Fortunately, the mower hit the embankment and stopped before it could cause any further damage.
Pascoe revealed he spent three weeks in hospital and is now recovering at home.
He said he attends rehab as an outpatient and visits his orthopedic doctors weekly.
He said his goal is to get a prosthetic leg and walked with one last week.
“Hopefully I can walk again,” Pascoe said.
The couple’s friend and marriage celebrant, Sarah Chippindale, created a GoFundMe for the couple, who have since raised nearly $26,000.
