Moose is loose! Hungry Alaskan moose roam the hospital hallway, nibbling on plants

  • The unexpected visitor wandered into Providence Health Park Medical on Thursday
  • The hungry little moose seemed oblivious to all the fuss as he ate the plants
  • Hospital security said, “It’s not every day that a moose enters a building.”

A hungry moose wandered into a hospital lobby in Anchorage, Alaska, chomping on a collection of potted plants before being escorted out by security.

The amusing event occurred Thursday at a medical facility in Providence Health Park when the large animal wandered through the front doors, looking for some food to eat.

The baby moose walked straight to the plants – hoping to get to some morning greens – as hospital staff and civilians took pictures and videos of the unusual sighting.

The docile moose seemed oblivious to all the fuss and attention he was getting.

When hospital security arrived, the moose stared with a few security guards.

Randy Hughes, the hospital’s director of security, said, “It’s not every day that Moose walks into a building, so everyone was excited to take pictures and things like that.”

To prevent the large animal from running wild, some civilians formed a circle while others held some branches from plants to try to swing the moose into walking toward the automatic doors.

A man is seen in a video posted to Facebook moving a lobby chair to lead the moose to the exit.

No one was injured during the afternoon’s clashes as the moose cooperated with hospital officials and left on their own.

After the moose left the building, it stood outside the hospital’s semi-circular corridor for a while before walking to the side of the building to take a nap in the snow, Fox News reported.

“Finally, I think he got tired of everybody watching him, watching him eat,” Hughes joked.

Moose’s visit Thursday wasn’t the first time Providence Alaska Medical Center has released wildlife inside one of their buildings.

The newsletter said bears have previously tried to enter the emergency room.

“There is never a dull moment here at the hospital,” Hughes said.
