Lily Gladstone will work alongside Saturday Night Live cast member Bowen Yang in a remake of the 1993 romantic comedy The Wedding Banquet.
The Oscar-nominated actress, 37, will appear alongside the SNL personality, 33, in a remake of the film for filmmaker Andrew Ahn. Variety reported on Thursday.
Joan Chen, Kelly Marie Tran and Yuh-jung Youn are expected to join the pair in the cast of the upcoming film, with Ahn and James Schamus writing the script.
Production on the film is scheduled to begin next month in Vancouver, the outlet reported. The film’s plot follows what happens when Min’s boyfriend, Chris, rejects her marriage proposal, according to Variety.
In the film, according to the outlet, ‘Min convinces his best friend Angela to marry him, paying for his partner Liz’s IVF treatments in exchange for her green card. However, things begin to fall apart when Min’s grandmother makes a surprise trip from Seoul to throw the couple a Korean wedding banquet.
