Manchester United ‘are pushing to sign Adrian Rabiot’

Manchester United ‘are pushing to sign Adrian Rabiot with Erik ten Hag, seeing the Juventus midfielder as an important signing this summer’… and the Dutchman has ‘already spoken to the player’s agent’

  • Manchester United would like to try to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot
  • Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag apparently spoke to the Frenchman
  • United previously failed in their bid to sign the 28-year-old last summer

Manchester United appear set to resume their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot after previously failing to bring the midfielder from Juventus to Old Trafford last summer.

The Frenchman was set to move to United following Erik ten Hag’s arrival, with the club’s bosses even flying abroad in a bid to strike a deal.

United are now pushing to try and complete a transfer for the 28-year-old who will be a free agent at the end of the season, according to French media The Team.

Ten Hag is keen to further strengthen his squad in the transfer market and has apparently made the combative midfielder an ‘important target’.

The Red Devils boss has reportedly held talks with Rabiot in a bid to try and get ahead of other potential suitors who may try to hijack a deal.

Last summer, United failed in midfield pursuits of Barcelona’s Rabiot and Frenkie de Jong with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen the only additions in the middle of the park.

Rabiot will be able to decide his own future and could demand a higher salary given United won’t have to negotiate a fee with another club to land the star.

The French star is currently enjoying his best season in Serie A after scoring 11 goals in all competitions for the Italian giants.

Rabiot has already expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, admitting at the World Cup in Qatar that he considers the English top flight to be suited to his qualities.

“I don’t have a favorite team, there isn’t really a club where I would necessarily like to play,” he had already said during the World Cup last winter.

“It is above all the championship and its level that attract me. I also think that the way of playing there corresponds more to my qualities.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in the midfielder.
