Glamorous AFL WAG Rebecca Judd is known for her lavish lifestyle.

But fans might be surprised that her mother, Kerry Brown, lives a world away from her famous Melbourne-based daughter.

Bec’s 62-year-old New Zealand-born Maori mother moved to Australia in the late 1970s with her now ex-husband Hugh Twigley to take advantage of Western Australia’s mining boom.

She works as a FIFO (fly in, fly out) worker at Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Kerry regularly shares photos of his life driving dump trucks in the mines on social media.

“I’m gonna get this bad girl out, move some dirt and keep Australia moving,” she wrote alongside one post.

She also often posts happy selfies with her FIFO coworkers, enjoying drinks after a hard day’s work.

Speaking about her mother’s profession last year, Bec expressed great interest and praise for Kerry’s work.

While a far cry from Bec’s lavish life in the plush Melbourne suburb of Brighton, Kerry often visits the footballing WAG, her son-in-law Chris Judd and her grandchildren on holiday and sometimes joins the family on their luxury ski trips.

Kerry, who is also mum to Kate Twigley, admitted it is helpful to stay connected with her family online and through social media.

“Working remotely doesn’t help, so it’s really exciting to see what she and the kids are up to (on Instagram),” Kerry told Stellar.

“We both have little time, and if you add to that the time difference (it’s even more difficult), social media is a blessing.”

Before starting her career at FIFO, the mother of two worked part-time in television as an assistant director and unit manager.

She decided to pursue a new career after separating from Hugh, who also worked in the mining industry, when Bec was just four years old.

“I remember the day Mum left. I was with Dad and he was crying. That’s my first memory. Isn’t that crazy?” Bec recalled in Pick up at 3pm in 2020.

The former 9News weather presenter previously said her parents’ divorce had a profound impact on her life.

Rebecca told Sunday Life magazine in May 2019: ‘As a child, I hated not having my mum and dad together.

‘Everyone else seemed to have mom and dad living together… I saw dad on the weekends.’

Following her parents’ separation, Rebecca and her sister, Kate Twigley, moved in with their mother and her new partner.
