After dragging England into extra time following a lackluster performance against Slovakia, Nathan Salt questioned Jude Bellingham’s decision to seemingly target England fans in It’s All Kicking Off.

The last-16 clash offered Gareth Southgate’s side the chance to banish the demons that have seemingly been haunting England throughout the tournament, despite a solid defensive record.

While Kobbie Mainoo was handed his first start of the tournament, Southgate opted to stick with a front four that has so far failed to match their vast collective talent in Germany.

Once again England struggled and found themselves chasing Ivan Schranz’s opener for an hour of football before a moment of injury-time brilliance from Jude Bellingham kept the nation’s hopes alive.

Harry Kane headed home almost immediately after the restart to secure a much-needed win and set up a clash with Switzerland, but it was Bellingham’s post-match comments that impressed.

Speaking after the match, Salt insisted he did not understand the Real Madrid star’s comments about English fans.

Dominic King reasoned that Bellingham should be given the “benefit of the doubt” for his comments, particularly given the dramatic circumstances that preceded them.
