Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie were tied for the lead at the end of the first day of the PNC Championship in Orlando.
The pair shot a first-round 59 and are 13 under par along with Bernhard Langer and his son Jason Langer, as well as Vijay Singh and his son Qass.
The 36-hole exhibition tournament, which features current and former professional golfers playing with a parent or child, concludes Sunday.
Tiger Woods, a 15-time major winner, and Charlie will make their fifth appearance at the annual event, which also allows players to use golf carts.
The duo tied for fifth place last year after finishing second in 2021.
“It’s a fight, so we’re trying to hit each and every shot with each other,” said 48-year-old Tiger Woods.
“I thought we did very well all day. Charlie made most of the putts today.”
Charlie Woods added: “I didn’t do very well, but Dad saved me on a couple of them and I took advantage of them.”
Tiger Woods will play for the first time since July’s Open, where he missed the cut for the third straight major after having back surgery in September.
“I’m not competitive right now,” Woods he told the PGA Tour website he said on Friday. “But I just want to be able to have the experience again.”
When asked about a time when Charlie had beaten him, he added: “Yes, he beat me for nine holes.
“He still has to beat me in 18 holes. That day is coming. I’m going to prolong it as long as I can.”
