Cardboard figures burn on the last night of the Fallas in Valencia. Fallas, gigantic cardboard or wooden structures that represent current events and celebrities in which individual characters or ninots are placed, are burned in the streets in homage to San José (Saint Joseph), the patron saint of the corporation carpenters. Since 2016, the festival has been recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
