New Delhi:

From an engineering student to a National Award-winning actor, Kriti Sanon has come a long way since the Delhi girl made her debut in the showbiz industry. A maverick in Bollywood for over 9 years, the Crew actor talked about what it was like to make Mumbai her home as he named Shah Rukh Khan as the best settler of the insider-outsider debate. Speaking at the Times Now Summit on Thursday, Kriti said, “I always believe that everyone has their own journey and their own pressure. So my first film was Heropanti, which was with a star kid, Tiger Shroff. We both were launched together but we both had different pressures where he had the pressure of being compared to his father (Jackie Shroff). And I had the pressure of, I hope people notice me, I hope I know my name, where people know his name before it even launched.

“I hope I get my second film and I hope I stay here. So there are different pressures that everyone goes through. Ultimately, I think talent sticks around.”

“As an outsider, of course it takes a while for people to register to know your name, to associate your name with your face. For a long time they said: ‘Woh Tiger Shroff ki film mein aaye thi‘ on the airport. They sometimes spoke to me. The children Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, director of Bareilly Ki Barfi, they then called me ‘Tiger Didi’. Because they didn’t know my name. It takes a while to register who you are if you don’t have an acting background. If you keep this up, you’ll start to feel like an insider. But those first years of struggle and frustrating moments when you don’t get the opportunity you want are what you have to go through. That’s why I’m proud of the journey because it wasn’t that easy,” she added.

Asked how it worked with stars like SRK, with whom she shared screen space DilwaleKriti said, “Shah Rukh Khan is an absolute outsider and the best example of the insider-outsider debate that we continue to have. It is an issue at the end of the day.”

Kriti shines Crew alongside Kareena Kapoor and Tabu. The film stars Tabu, Kareena and Kriti as flight attendants. From stealing peanut boxes meant for flights to scheming to make big bucks and upping the glamor quotient, the trio is out to grab attention. The film, made under the banner of Balaji Telefilms and Anil Kapoor Film And Communications Network, was released in theaters on March 29.

Crew is a story about three women and is touted to be a laugh riot, set against the backdrop of the struggling airline industry. However, their fate leads to a number of unwarranted situations and they become entangled in a web of lies.
