Joey Essex and Jessy Potts have been accused of faking their romance following their time in the Love Island villa, despite claiming the romance was “real”.

After missing out on a place in the ITV2 final and being voted ‘least compatible’, the pair returned to the UK and have been busy attending numerous events separately.

While Joey, 34, has been raking in around £250,000 on a club tour, Jessy, 25, has been partying with friends and attending film premieres.

The couple have appeared together in TV interviews and magazines, where Joey hinted at starting a family, but they have not appeared on each other’s Instagram accounts.

Tongues were further set wagging when Joey revealed on This Morning that he was considering moving to the US in a bid to make a name for himself in that country.

While another said: “How will Jessy get to America? Will she go to America?”

MailOnline has contacted Jessy and Joey’s representatives for comment.

The former TOWIE star caused a stir when he entered the villa as the first celebrity contestant.

Despite being labelled the “pantomime villain” and known for his bachelor antics, he later claimed to have settled down with his “exclusive girlfriend” Jessy.

Joey claims the couple has already started thinking about their future even though they haven’t said the “L” word to each other yet.

‘There’s been a huge interest in the US, and that was even before Love Island, so that’s her next move once she’s had some time off.

The source added: ‘His team, Neon Management, have been inundated with magazine cover shoots and podcast interviews since Love Island, plus more meetings with Netflix, so Joey has never been more in demand.’

Joey’s popularity doesn’t seem to have been affected by some of the negative headlines that emerged following his time on Love Island, where he was accused of being cruel to his ex-girlfriend Grace Jackson and being “argumentative” in the villa.

But speaking after his exit, Joey said he deliberately caused a stir as show bosses encouraged him to lean on his reality TV experience and create as much drama as possible, admitting he was an “outsider” on the show.

She said during an appearance on This Morning: ‘Everyone is encouraged to stir the pot, the difference with me is that I don’t hesitate… I know what the producers want!

“Some people didn’t want to go out and bother people and I respect that, but the difference is with me and with 13 years of experience, I know what to do and that’s what I did.”

Joey admitted he played the “pantomime villain” and added: “I have no regrets, you know how it is, I played the pantomime villain. I did what I had to do, I wanted to have fun and find love and I found Jessy.”

After being asked if they had said the word “love” to each other yet, Jessy said, “We don’t want to rush things.”

Despite the criticism, Joey said he wanted people to focus on him and his new love as a couple and ignore all the noise surrounding them, insisting he was “genuine” during his time in the villa.
