Jason Aldean dedicated a recent performance of his controversial hit Try That in a Small Town to Donald Trump.

The singer made the remarks at a concert in Nashville on Saturday, hours after a 20-year-old gunman attempted to kill the former president.

Aldean, in turn, made his loyalty clear, cementing his status as a Trump supporter.

The song used to do so has become the 47-year-old artist’s breakout hit since its release last year, despite some claiming it contains coded support for racism and lynching.

Aldean has denied these claims and seemed to make the point clear by making his Saturday performance a particularly political affair.

“What happened today in Pittsburgh with our former president, President Trump? You know about this, right?” Aldean says in a Tik Tok showing the improvised display of respect.

“President Trump is a friend of mine, so I want to send him this next song,” she continued, speaking on stage.

‘We all know what’s going to happen in November, so it’s all good.

“It just goes to show that there’s a lot of shit in the world, and that’s what this song is about, so it’s directed at the press.”

A remarkably charged version of the three-minute single followed, after Aldean raised his fist to rile up the crowd, much as Trump had done earlier.

He was then taken off the scene by the Secret Service and taken to a local hospital where he was deemed well enough to be released later that night, surviving the first assassination attempt on a US president since Ronald Reagan in 1981.

The Republican front-runner allayed fears about his well-being in a statement to the Truth website a few hours later, ahead of a highly anticipated appearance at Monday’s Republican National Convention.

“I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement for their quick response to the shooting that just occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump, 78, wrote Saturday night.

‘Most importantly, I would like to express my condolences to the family of the person who died in the demonstration, and also to the family of another person who was seriously injured.

“It is incredible that such an act could occur in our country,” he continued.

‘Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that went through the top of my right ear.

“I knew immediately something was wrong because I heard a whistling sound, gunshots, and immediately felt the bullet go through my skin,” he continued.

“There was a lot of bleeding, so I realized what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
