A rowdy British tourist received a dose of instant karma after ignoring a “no smoking” sign.
The Brit was visiting Chang Phuak street food stalls with friends in Chiang Mai, Thailand, when he allegedly decided to light up a cigarette.
After lighting a cigarette near a gas tank used to fuel the kitchens, the cook politely asked the tourist if he could stop smoking.
In response to her polite request, he became aggressive, stating that it was his “personal freedom” to smoke in public. However, the dessert stand’s staff insisted it was a safety risk due to the nearby gas tank and decided to take matters into their own hands.
Footage captured by a shocked passerby on Wednesday night shows the angry scenes that erupted at the market when the man allegedly pushes a tray and throws a lit cigarette towards the stall.

‘I thought the foreigner was going to get violent. It was so big.’

Police Lieutenant Colonel Awirut Sukyaem of the Chiang Mai provincial force said no complaints had been received about the tourist.
However, the officer said they would investigate if a report was filed.
He said: “The police are aware of the incident involving the foreigner at the night market, but no emergency calls were made when the incident occurred. If a report is made, we will investigate and mediate.”
