Nestled in a mountainous mountainous land on the beaches of North Sydney is the secluded $ 2.4 million property where Chris and Lyn Dawson built the home of their dreams.
This is where the couple started raising two daughters and the place where their marriage was broken when teacher Chris invited one of his students to live with them.
It's where Joanne Curtis, 16, was seen swimming topless in the family pool and where the former first-rate footballer would have sex with his teenage lover when his wife had gone to bed.

Chris Dawson, now 70, lives in Mt Coolum on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. He has always denied any involvement in the disappearance of his first wife Lyn 1982 and alleged murder

It is where it is known that Mrs. Dawson was alive and many believe that the mother of two has been buried for the past 36 years.
For several months, listeners around the world have been paralyzed by a podcast that recalls the disappearance of Mrs. Dawson and strongly suggests that her husband murdered the 33-year-old woman.
The Teacher & # 39; s Pet, produced by the Australian newspaper, has been downloaded more than 17 million times and last month reached number 1 on iTunes podcast lists in Australia, the United States, Great Britain, Canada and New Zealand
The podcast examines Dawson's marriage and Chris Dawson's romance with his student. He also discusses the intensely close relationship of the footballer with his twin brother, fellow teacher and Newtown Jets player.
He exposed a network of teachers who have sex with students in secondary schools on the northern beaches in the 1970s and 1980s, revealed initially defective police processes and raised questions about why a mother would abandon two daughters she loved clearly.
But he has mainly left his audience wondering how Chris Dawson, now 70, until recently has been able to live in peace with his third wife in Queensland despite the fact that two forensic experts recommended that he be tried for murder.

The whole story is centered, and perhaps will conclude, on land that Chris and Lyn Dawson bought in Bayview, about 30 km north of the central business district of Sydney, in 1976.
The Dawsons chose the land on Gilwinga Drive almost at the same time that Paul and his wife Marilyn bought on the same street. Both couples used the same builder to build impressive houses.
For some years the Dawsons' lives must have seemed idyllic to outsiders, but by the time Joanne Curtis was dragged into her world, things were going really badly.
Chris Dawson became a physical education teacher at Cromer High School in 1979 when Joanne was a student in Year 10. The following year he became his teacher and confidant.
Joanne soon became a nanny for the Dawson's two daughters, Shanelle and Sherryn, often spending the night at her house.

Joanne, who had a troublesome domestic life with a violent stepfather, told police that in October 1981, while studying to obtain her High School Certificate, Chris Dawson invited her to move into her family's home.
"It was clear that Lynette did not think having me there was good for her relationship," Joanne told police 16 years later.
Despite that discomfort, Joanne told the police that Ms. Dawson treated her "really well … made me feel welcome".
In 2003, Joanne told a coroner that while she lived under the roof of the Dawson family, her older lover would end the trust of his wife.
"She was very cold and used to sing songs that had a double meaning, that she did not care and that she was not physically attractive," she said.
Only digging towards her. Just singing songs that were going to tire her out, it just bothered her.
The same coroner heard that Chris would provide alcohol to Lyn, who did not drink regularly, and that she would have sex with Joanne when his wife fell asleep.

Joanne told police in 1998 that Lyn Dawson initially did not express concerns about the schoolgirl who lived with her family.
"He did not tell me anything," Joanne told Detective Sergeant Damon Loone. I just believed what he said. If he said that everything was fine, everything was fine, it was fine, in my opinion.
& # 39; Well, I did not have an opinion. I just did what he said. Trust him. & # 39;
Joanne said in the same interview that Paul and Marilyn Dawson were aware of their relationship with Chris.
Around November Chris and Joanne even considered moving to their own apartment, with Chris depositing a deposit in a unit in North Manly.
It is unclear how much Lynn Dawson knew about her husband's relationship with Joanne, but a month after the new agreement her suspicions were seriously aroused.

Chris was admitted to the hospital from November 2 to 6 for a nose job and asked his wife not to visit him, but his mother did. He found Chris alone with Joanne.
"Lyn confronted me … and told me:" You've been taking liberties with my husband, "Joanne told a coroner in 2003." I did not know what to say. "
The schoolgirl moved with Paul and Marilyn Dawson and their three daughters several hundred meters away, but that arrangement did not last either.
On December 23, the teacher and her now ex-student started driving to Queensland, but Joanne got sick near Murwillumbah just south of the border and the couple returned.
The coroner heard in 2003 that the couple went to Paul and Marilyn's house and then spent Christmas Eve sleeping in the gymnasium at Forest High School, where Paul taught.
Chris Dawson then returned with his wife and the couple arranged marriage counseling.

In early January 1982, Joanne joined family and friends on a vacation in the South West Rocks on the north coast of New South Wales.
He was still there when Lyn could not meet her mother, husband and children in Northbridge Baths, where Chris worked casually as a lifeguard, on January 9.
Two days later, Joanne moved into Dawson's house and became a teenage mother of Shanelle, a four-year-old girl, and Sherryn, two years old.
Lynn Dawson, 33, has not been seen since.
I tried to leave several times because I did not want to, I did not want to be in that situation with him.
"I had what I wanted," Joanne then told the police. "That was what he wanted, that was his, his goal was to have me and have children, have the house and not have Lyn … I was euphoric, as far as I was concerned".
At 17, Joanne slept on the side of the missing woman's bed and wore Lyn's jewelry and some of her clothes, but she never felt comfortable with the relationship.
"I tried to leave several times because I did not want to, I did not want to be in that situation with him," Joanne told police.
I did not want to have a relationship with him. I wanted to get away … because I was just a child. "
The couple married at home on Gilwinga Drive with Paul and Marilyn as witnesses on January 15, 1984. She was 35 years old and she was 19 years old.

The new & # 39; family & # 39; He lived like this until Chris Dawson sold the house in December of 1984 and the couple moved to Queensland, where Joanne gave birth to their daughter Kristen.
Joanne told police that her relationship with Chris continued to deteriorate. He began to sing derogatory songs about her as he did with his first wife.
The marriage ended in 1990 when Joanne returned to Sydney to start over.
For the past eight years, the police had treated Lyn Dawson as a fugitive wife, but then Joanne expressed concern about the demise of her predecessor and suggested that they search the Gilwinga Drive pool.

The researchers ran the ground penetration radar on part of the property near the pool, but did not break the ground.
A decade later, in 2000, police under the direction of Ms. Curtis dug up a small area near the pool where a disturbance had been detected on the ground and found the remains of Lyn's favorite cardigan.
The cardigan, which had been separated into panels, appeared to have been pierced with a knife in a manner consistent with the stabbing.
By the time the cardigan was found, a subsequent owner extended the house over what has been described as soft or loose ground adjacent to the two Dawson girls' rooms.
Police have returned to the site to excavate and re-use ground-penetrating radar as part of the new unresolved Homicide Unit investigation that began in 2015.
Some relatives and friends of Lyn Dawson, as well as others familiar with the property, are convinced that she is buried there.
The New South Wales Police Commissioner, Mick Fuller, revealed in July that an expert on burial sites had mapped the entire block on Gilwinga Drive.
In 1990, a pink cardigan was found believed to belong to Lyn Dawson.
Chris Dawson's old house in Bayview is only 300 meters from the Kuring-Gai Chase National Park
"The work that has been going on in recent years has been extraordinary," Fuller told Miranda Devine's Daily Tele Live. "We used a ground penetration radar in 1990, 91, 99 and 2016.
"We dug in 2000 and 2016. We had an expert on funeral sites come to map the entire block in 2015. We have also had corpse dogs there."
Fuller also told Ben Fordham of 2GB in July that the police were prepared to do more digging on the property. "Needless to say," he said.
& # 39; Do we have to do more on the site? If the answer is yes, we will do it absolutely. "
The 4,167 m 2 property has had several owners since Lyn Dawson disappeared. It changed hands in March for $ 2,400,000, having sold for $ 1,150,000 in February 2000.

The real estate promotional material describes the five-bedroom, two-bathroom house with its front terrace overlooking the sunlit pool as an "elegant family sanctuary".
In the years after his departure from the "sanctuary" of Gilwinga, Chris Dawson allegedly drove and trotted occasionally, expressing interest in renovations, once asking where the new owner had been digging.
Forensics discovered in 2001 and 2003 that Lyn Dawson had been murdered and recommended that Chris Dawson be prosecuted for that crime. He has always denied any wrongdoing.
The Director of the New South Wales Public Prosecutor's Office, which rejected the recommendations of both forensics to act, is reviewing a new report and again considering whether there is sufficient evidence to bring charges.
There is a $ 200,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of Lyn Dawson's killer. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
