She was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where her head injuries proved fatal.

Belmont has been charged with murder and causing injury to an elderly or dependent adult likely to cause great bodily injury, according to his arrest report.

In an official statement, police described the perpetrator as a “transient,” a more formal word for a homeless person.

According to the San Francisco StandardA woman can be heard on the police scanner saying Dandan “was pushed onto a train and is now lying on the platform. We have medical personnel on the way.”

“We’re going to need more units for this,” a male voice reportedly said in response.
