Former Bayern Munich midfielder Dietmar Hamann has claimed Harry Kane has yet to prove he is worth his £100million, accusing the striker of failing to deliver in big games.
Kane has scored 54 goals in 53 appearances for Bayern since joining from Tottenham in a big-money move last summer.
Hamann, who also played in the Premier League with Newcastle, Liverpool, Bolton and Man City, has said he remains “sceptical” about the 31-year-old.
Kane has scored 10 goals in eight Bayern games this season, four of them in the 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, while he scored a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Holstein Kiel. Kane also scored against SSV Ulm, Freiburg and Werder Bremen.
But Kane failed to find the net in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Champions League, after also drawing a blank in the 1-1 draw against Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen. , four days before.

In a column for Sky Germany Posted after Bayern’s defeat to Villa, Hamann suggested that the jury was still out on Kane and that the England captain needed to do more against better opponents to prove he was a good signing.
“Harry Kane had a personally humbling evening in Birmingham, apart from the defeat,” Hamann wrote.
“After the summer European Championship I said that he still has to prove that he is worth 100 million, although last year he scored more than 30 goals.”
“He wasn’t brought in to score a hat-trick against Darmstadt. He was brought in to score against Leverkusen and Aston Villa and score in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Kane scored 10 goals in 12 Champions League games for Bayern last season as the German giants reached the semi-finals before losing to Real Madrid.
Even though Kane finished the 2023-24 campaign with 43 goals in 44 games in all competitions, Bayern failed to win a trophy for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
Kane is yet to win a team trophy during his senior career.
Kane, Bayern’s number 9, fired twice against Villa and one of them hit the target.
Villa beat Bayern 1-0, more than 40 years after defeating them in the 1982 European Cup final.
Bayern, however, have had a good start to the domestic season and are currently top of the Bundesliga after five rounds.
Next up for Kane and Bayern is a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Frankfurt currently occupies second place in the standings, just one point behind Bayern.
