Harry Kane smiled as he praised Bayern Munich’s “incredible victory” over Arsenal in the Champions League.
Joshua Kimmich scored a second-half header to send Bayern Munich into the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory, and Arsenal returned to London with their tails between their legs.
It was an especially special night for Kane and Eric Dier, who had the pleasure of breaking the hearts of Arsenal, Tottenham’s arch-nemesis.
‘[It was] an incredible victory. It’s been a difficult season for us,” Kane told TNT Sports.
‘We have had to fight and make efforts at times. We knew we could make a difference with our fans at home.

“It was a tough game, very close. It was a great goal from Josh. [Kimmich]. Reaching the semi-finals is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy it.
“I think in these types of games the first half is always a little cautious. We said at half-time that we wanted to pick up the pace, be aggressive. We had a couple of shots and we could have made it easier for ourselves, but these games are always difficult and you have to overcome them.
“The expectation here is to try to win the Champions League.
“We won the league 11 years in a row, so maybe there was a bit of a lack of rhythm.” [as we didn’t win it this year]. That can’t happen. “Now we have to enjoy the Champions League and try to prepare for Saturday.”
The Champions League represents Kane’s last chance to win a trophy in his first season at Bayern Munich.
Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga to break Bayern’s 11-year stranglehold on the competition.
Bayern were also eliminated from the DFB Cup by third division side Saarbrucken.
They will face giant Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
