Harrison Ford told the story of how Jimmy Buffett, who died in September, inspired him to get his ear pierced Saturday during a tribute event in Los Angeles.

The 81-year-old actor took the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday during a concert called Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett.

‘I remember a long (some would say “drunken”) lunch with Jimmy and Ed Bradley, and it was Bradley’s birthday. I saw that they both had earrings. So right after lunch, I got my ear pierced,” Ford fondly recalled.

“That’s how contagious Jimmy’s coldness is: contagious enough for a 40-year-old man to spontaneously pierce his damn ear,” he added.

The Indiana Jones star shared the anecdote before introducing the Zac Brown Band.

Harrison also noted that his late friend, who died at age 76, was “contagious” enough to “create an entire culture around his music.”

“There’s no other way to put it: there will never be another like Jimmy,” said the veteran Hollywood leading man.

He added of his friend: “He was kind.” He was loved by his family, by his friends, by his band, his team and his collaborators, and he loved them all too.”

Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl, Jon Bon Jovi and more showed up to perform at the memorial concert.

Jane Fonda and Woody Harrelson also appeared on stage to share comments.

Joining Ford at the star-studded celebration of Jimmy’s life was his longtime wife, Calista Flockhart, 59.

They met at the 2002 Golden Globes, married in 2010, and share Calista’s adopted son, Liam Flockhart Ford, 22, in 2001.

Last week it was announced that Harrison will appear in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World.

The film’s trailer debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

In the trailer, President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (Ford) is the target of an assassination attempt that is foiled by Captain America/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).

In the clip, President Ross told Wilson, “I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers.”

Ford previously played the commander in chief as President James Marshall in the 1997 action film Air Force One.
