Thee Grounds of Alexandria in Sydney has been crowned the most Instagrammed restaurant in the world.
According to a new study commissioned by Betway, the sprawling cafe, bar and restaurant scored almost twice as many spots as America’s most popular restaurant, Nobu Malibu.
120,440 posts were made using #groundsofalexandria, according to the study that analyzed the hashtags of 100 American and 100 international restaurants.
The Grounds of Alexandria has been crowned the most Instagrammed restaurant in the world.
The location in Sydney’s inner south features cafes and restaurants in a garden setting.
Decoration, both interior and exterior, offers many opportunities to achieve the perfect image.
“The restaurant is a popular event venue thanks to its beautiful décor, and frequently hosts weddings, parties and photo shoots,” Betway wrote in its report.
The Grounds of Alexandria opened in 2012 on the site of a former cake factory and is known for its quirky themed displays, which change regularly.
Sketch in London came in second place after The Grounds.
Site manager Ramzey Choker said he was surprised by the outcome.
“Every day we talk about creating moments,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
‘It’s not really about the 120,000 hashtags, for us it’s the 120,000 moments, that’s the reason we’re here.
“Today we are here in the rain creating a circus street for people to enjoy… but it is worth it for every customer that comes in.”
The Grounds director Ramzay Choker (pictured) said that in his opinion the experiences of those who visited were more important than the number of hashtags.
The Grounds was built on the site of a former cake factory in the gentrified industrial suburb.
