Everyone from Beyoncé to Cardi B to Bella Thorne has been talking about the adult content site Onlyfans.
In fact, the last two create their own pages on the platform to earn a little extra income.
The site, in which creators invite users to subscribe to pages featuring explicit sexual content, has exploded in recent years.
The number of Onlyfans creators around the world has increased ten times from 2019 to 2022: from only 348,000 creators to 3,182,000.
Much of the content is homegrown: 67 percent of the $1.9 billion in net revenue generated on the platform in 2022 came from American content creators. Reported variety.
Sometimes the content is merely suggestive, other times it is downright pornographic. But it’s surprisingly lucrative, with some creators, like former teacher Allie Dawson, earning around $50,000 a month from their Onlyfans account.
Now, a new survey has revealed the parts of the United States with the highest number of Onlyfans creators increasing their income with the help of the platform.
BedBible’s survey used Search Only to determine the number of creators by state.

This difference between states could be a reflection of different needs for supplemental income depending on location, said Professor Litam, who previously studied the demographics of Onlyfans users.
The relative income in each state could be less than the cost of living, for example.
“A lot of people are struggling financially now more than in previous years, so I think people are getting creative about supplementing their income,” he said.
The state-by-state survey was conducted by bed bible, a sex toy and sexual wellness company, which uses a search engine called OnlySearch, which allows you to search for OnlyFans creators using keywords.

Using this search feature, BedBible divided the number of creators per 100,000 people in each state.
Connecticut had the highest number, with 24.64 counts.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, only 49 creators registered in New York.
The survey also reported the average monthly income of OF creators in each state. South Carolina had the highest average, with users bringing in around $1,460 monthly from their profiles. Other states, like West Virginia, only generate about $40 a month.
This figure might seem surprisingly low if you’ve heard of success stories, like that of Dawson, who lives in Florida. But others in his state earn an average of $340, according to the BedBible survey.
A key limitation of this method is that it only detects people who publicly list their location, Elissa Redmiles, assistant professor of computer science at Georgetown University, shared with DailyMail.com.
Professor Redmiles has previously conducted interviews and studies examining Onlyfans creators’ motivations for joining the platform.
He said that often creators may not indicate their location for security reasons.
Other times, creators may say they live in a particular state that they don’t actually reside in, to create a fantasy persona that they believe best meets the desires of their audience, Professor Redmiles said.
In total, this means that “all of these figures are likely to go unreported,” Professor Litam said.
