Formula 1 fans were divided over Brad Pitt's appearance at the British Grand Prix on Saturday

Formula 1 fans were left divided over Brad Pitt’s appearance at the British Grand Prix over the weekend.

The A-list actor was spotted at Silverstone filming scenes for his upcoming sports action drama, imaginatively titled F1, in the paddock alongside the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Although Pitt and his co-stars have been spotted on several runs over the past year filming the Joseph Kosinski-directed movie, he riled fans on Saturday afternoon.

The Oscar winner was seen walking towards the press area after qualifying for an “interview” alongside real reporters, however, several fans questioned the fact that he stood next to McLaren’s Lando Norris as he discussed his difficult qualifying session.

“Lando having a heartbreaking interview as the fake F1 drivers from the Goofy movie stand behind him and do their interviews. I can’t do this shit anymore, this sport is so unserious,” one person wrote on X.

“Imagine you just had a horrible race and Brad Pitt is standing right behind you having a fake interview about his imaginary race win,” another chimed in.

A third wrote: “Can you imagine being a pilot this season and having to deal with Brad Pitt in the background playing along the whole time? I really can’t get over it, he’s literally there, at work, PRETENDING to do his job. It’s so funny.”

Another fan added: “It’s an interesting take, but it’s a little disrespectful and weird to have Brad acting next to drivers who are experiencing so many emotions after a race and Brad alone in his space.”

Others disagreed and called the move “disrespectful”, saying both Pitt and the F1 drivers were simply doing their jobs.

“He’s not interrupting any of the hosts’ interviews, he’s just doing his job,” one person wrote.

Others called the action

Others called the action “disrespectful” after Pitt was seen in the background several times.

Another echoed this sentiment: “It’s not disrespectful at all, F1 is entertainment and a business. What Brad is doing is bringing more light to the sport, which will invariably bring more money to the drivers and everyone else.”

Earlier this weekend, Apple Films released the first trailer and poster for the film, which is set to be released in summer 2025.

In the promotional materials, Pitt is seen sporting the helmet of his fictional team, ‘APXGP’, alongside Damson Idris, who plays his teammate.

The film will involve all 10 F1 teams, the sport’s drivers, the International Automobile Federation and race promoters, with filming scheduled to continue right up to the Abu Dhabi race in December this year.

The cast also includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, Samson Kayo and Callie Cooke.
