Donald Trump spoke about the Green Bay Packers during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin

As part of the longest speech in the history of American political conventions before a presidential election, Donald Trump made a bold claim about the Green Bay Packers.

The Republican National Convention was held in Milwaukee, and Wisconsin natives rooted for the Packers.

Trump devoted much of his 92-minute speech to thanking everyone who spoke at the convention and many people in the crowd.

As Trump began thanking the host city for the convention, he saw people holding cheese heads, a symbol worn by Green Bay fans at games.

“A very special thank you to the great people of Milwaukee and the great state of… there they are, there they are!” Trump said as he looked at the blocks of sparkling cheddar cheese. “They’re so recognizable!”

“Green Bay is going to have a team this year, right?” Trump said, almost questioning himself. “They’re going to have a good team.”

Green Bay is projected to have a strong 2024 after reaching the divisional round of the playoffs last season after defeating the Dallas Cowboys on the road in the wild-card round.

Most of the Packers’ roster has remained together since last season, with quarterback Jordan Love leading the way.

Green Bay’s biggest obstacle to a successful 2024 season is its divisional opponents.

The Lions reached the NFC Championship game earlier this year, the Bears were revitalized with first overall pick Caleb Williams and the Vikings traded away quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Trump has a long history with the NFL and many believe he harbors a personal hatred toward the league because it has never allowed him to own a team, despite several attempts.

At one point, Trump tried to buy the Colts, Patriots, Cowboys and Bills.

Trump’s latest vendetta against the NFL came in 2017, after Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when someone disrespects our flag, tell them, ‘Get that son of a b***h off the field right now. Get out! He’s fired,'” Trump said.

Trump said this while he was acting president, sparking much outrage and protests among players.
