Nicky Buckley has revealed what it was like being a TV presenter on The Sale of the Century while pregnant with her son in 1997.

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity, the TV presenter, 59, said she was heavily criticized for wearing tight dresses that showed off her baby bump.

He told his campmates how Channel Nine’s “fax machines were packed with requests from people complaining” about his appearance on air.

‘They said it was disgusting. That they should take me away until I have the baby. Then all the magazines published articles. The newspapers, the radio stations,’ he said.

‘A Current Affair did a story about it. And it would appear on the front page of the newspaper with the headline “Is this woman too big for television?”

“Channel Nine news said they had fax machines jammed with requests from people to take me off the air,” he continued.

Despite the backlash, Nicky revealed that she continued working until a week before her son was born.

“If I had so much hate now, I don’t know how I would deal with it,” he admitted.

“But I must have had some really good hormones because I was like ‘whatever.’

It comes after Nicky revealed the shocking reason she was sacked from her Perfect Match presenting role during Monday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity.

The TV presenter presented the Channel Ten dating show in the early 1990s alongside Greg Evans.

Nicky claimed she was fired from the role after six months because she wasn’t acting “flirtatious” enough on camera.

‘My show was called Perfect Match, and then when they got it back it was called Blind Date. That was before I did The Sale (of the Century),’ Nicky explained.

“And only after six months… they fired me.”

“They wanted me to come out smiling and flirty and for me to say, ‘Yeah, sure,’ but I didn’t want to look like a fool.”

Campmate Dave Hughes asked Nicky if she was relieved to be off the show.

‘No, I was devastated. I was embarrassed,’ he admitted.

“And when I got fired, I went and took singing lessons and acting lessons to get over my fear of what people thought of me.”
