The woman who was shot in the back while helping someone move home had served jail time for a string of criminal offenses and had just faced court days before the incident.
Linley Anne Anyos, 33, was sitting in a blue Volkswagen Jetta outside a house on Trees Road in Tallebudgera, on the Gold Coast, when she was shot about 12noon on Wednesday.
Police believe the shot was fired from the back seat of the car, possibly by a man known to Anyos.
The search for the alleged gunman and the gun continued as of Thursday night.
Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting was an accident.
Ms Anyos remains at Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
It can now be revealed that Ms Anyos was previously caught up in another firearm incident.
She was arrested in August 2020, after a loaded gun was allegedly discovered in her car following a road rage incident in Carbrook, south of Brisbane.
She was initially charged with a series of offenses including intentionally endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle, possession of a Schedule 1 dangerous drug in a quantity greater than Schedule 3, possession of a loaded Category 3 handgun. D/H/R in public and breach of bail.

Her lawyer, Lisa Searing, told the court that after a difficult childhood, Anyos had fallen in with the wrong crowd but was determined to turn her life around with an apprenticeship starting later that year.

Anyos was sentenced to three months in jail after pleading guilty to one count of possession of dangerous drugs and failing to appear.
She was also booked before Southport Magistrates Court on Monday (January 6) on unknown charges.
On Thursday, he remained on life support in the ICU and his family held a vigil at his bedside, Gold Coast Newsletter reported.
Police and forensic officers remained at the crime scene Thursday.

“Everyone has been very compliant at this point,” Detective Inspector Mooney said.
‘There are between eight and ten people who have returned to one of our stations to give statements.
“We are also pursuing people who were here before that, people who may have seen or heard something or spoken to certain people while they were here, or who had video or CCTV cameras.”
It is understood another person was inside the Volkswagen Jetta at the time of the shooting.

“Our forensic examination of the vehicle has not yet been carried out,” Inspector Mooney said.
‘It appears the victim was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle and was shot in the seat.

“She arrived on the scene with a couple of our witnesses who were helping (people) get out.”
