- Crystal Palace reject Southampton’s bid for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
- The Eagles want a loan but prefer to send the winger to a Championship club
- Several second division clubs have shown interest in loaning the 21-year-old.
Crystal Palace have rejected a second approach from Southampton for young winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
Southampton have previously enquired about a loan with an option and are now understood to have expressed a willingness to buy the 21-year-old outright, but Palace sources insist they have yet to receive an official offer.
They are reluctant to face Premier League opposition and would prefer Rak-Sakyi to go out on loan to the Championship.
They have noted the progress made by Omari Hutchinson, who was initially loaned from Chelsea to Ipswich, and recognise that Rak-Sakyi is capable of making a similar impact in the division this season.
Leeds United, Sheffield United and Sunderland are among the clubs who have expressed interest in the England Under-20 international.
Several clubs want to loan Jesurun Rak-Sakyi ahead of the new season
Russell Martin’s Southampton are the latest club linked with a possible move for the young winger
Rak-Sakyi rose to prominence after a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in 2022-23, where he scored 15 goals, contributed eight assists and was named fans’ player of the year.
He was drafted back into the Palace first team early last season before his progress was hampered by a hamstring injury.
Ipswich also wanted Rak-Sakyi before turning to Hutchinson.
