Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu’s latest film Crew made a debut at the box office and earned Rs 30 crore in its opening weekend. However, the film experienced a decline in revenues, with a 60% drop on its first Monday. This downward trend continued and profits fell further on Tuesday, marking a gradual slowdown in box office momentum. According to a report in Sacnilk, Crew collected Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday and maintained a steady revenue stream despite the lull on weekdays. The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.60% on Wednesday, contributing to its cumulative six-day revenue of Rs 40.70 crore.
Crew revolves around three air hostesses, played by Tabu, Kareena and Kriti, whose fortunes take a dramatic turn when they come across a dead passenger smuggling gold biscuits, amid the backdrop of their airline Kohinoor in danger of going bankrupt.
Reportedly, Crew was released in 2000 theaters. It premiered in more than 75 countries in more than 1,100 locations. The estimated budget for the film, which covers production and advertising costs, is reportedly around Rs 60 crore.
Crew opened to largely mixed reviews. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review for WhatsNew2Day, gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and wrote: “Crew would have been a lot more fun if only they had known how to liven things up with touches of real inspiration. Yes, that’s what’s sorely missing in a film that goes for gold but fails to find a source of sustained sparkle.
Produced under the banner of Balaji Telefilms and Anil Kapoor Film & Communications Network, Crew not just the three leading ladies, but also Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the ensemble cast.
