Crew, which features a stellar cast including Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu, continues its theatrical journey with a mixed bag of results at the box office. While the film earned around Rs 4.20 crore on Monday, a 60 percent decline from its opening day figures, Tuesday saw a further decline in its box office performance. According to a Commercial report, Crew minted Rs 3.50 crore on its fifth day in theaters. With a Hindi occupancy of 12.99% on Tuesday, the film has collected a total box office collection of Rs 37.20 crore. In other news, Kriti Sanon expressed her excitement for a possible sequel and stated that she, along with co-stars Tabu and Kareena, would like to reunite.
Crew revolves around three air hostesses, played by Tabu, Kareena and Kriti, whose fortunes take a dramatic turn when they come across a dead passenger smuggling gold biscuits, amid the backdrop of their airline Kohinoor in danger of going bankrupt.
Reportedly, Crew was released in 2000 theaters. It premiered in more than 75 countries in more than 1,100 locations. The estimated budget for the film, which covers production and advertising costs, is reportedly around Rs 60 crore.
Crew opened to largely mixed reviews. Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review for WhatsNew2Day, gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and wrote, “Crew would have been a lot more fun if only they had known how to liven things up with touches of real inspiration. Yes, that’s what’s sorely missing in a film that goes for gold but fails to find a source of sustained sparkle.
Produced under the banner of Balaji Telefilms and Anil Kapoor Film & Communications Network, Crew not just the three leading ladies, but also Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the ensemble cast.
