‘Rejoice for ’tis the season of joy and gladness!’ the streamer wrote alongside the post.

Following the conclusion of the third season of Bridgerton, which focused on the couple Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, the next series will focus attention on Benedict, Bridgerton’s second older brother.

Netflix confirmed: “Even though his older and younger brothers are happily married, Benedict is reluctant to settle down.

‘That is, until a fascinating woman catches Benedict’s attention at Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball.

“Though Benedict knows his love interest only as the Silver Lady, she is actually Sophie, a resourceful servant with her own secrets and dreams.”

Before taking on the lead role this season, Luke said of his character: “Benedict has always been a little bit lost, or free, depending on how you want to look at it.” But now he’s trying to find something a little more solid in himself.’

Added creator Shonda Rhymes: “He’s a charming man trying to find his way. He’s very charming and funny. I’m excited for everyone to see him.”

Netflix also recently released a short video sharing the announcement of Luke accepting Benedict’s prominent future.

It shows him opening a door and being given a suit to wear to a masquerade ball, a clue as to where his journey will begin in the series.

Although a release date has not yet been announced, it is confirmed that the season will consist of 8 parts and will take around 8 months to finish filming.

Speaking to THR, showrunner Jess Brownell said: “We’re working to try to get the seasons out faster, but they take eight months to film and then you have to edit them and then dub them into all the languages.”

“Writing also takes a long time, so we’re at a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed it up, but somewhere in that range.”

It comes after being promised the ‘most exciting season yet’, Bridgerton fans were left somewhat disappointed by the lack of regency games in the first part of season three.

However, show bosses have more than delivered with the second part of the period drama, with episode five of the series featuring a six-minute long sex scene between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton ).

Nicola previously revealed: “I think we’ve got the sass out of this series!” while joking that she and Luke had damaged the set with their on-screen games.

He told Entertainment Weekly: ‘We broke a piece of furniture while doing a scene. It’s a bit of a gimmick where they say, ‘Okay, we’ll do this, this, and this.’
