Brian Austin Green on Sunday paid an emotional tribute to his late Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty amid news of her passing at the age of 53 after a years-long battle with breast cancer.
The 50-year-old actor, who played David Silver on the ’90s Fox hit, took to Instagram Stories with an emotional message following news of Doherty’s passing.
She wrote: ‘Shan, my sister… You loved me through it all. You were a huge part of my understanding of love. I will miss you more than I can process right now. Thank you for the gift you gave me.’
Green appeared in 292 episodes of the television drama from 1990 to 2000, while Doherty played the role of Brenda Walsh for 111 episodes of Aaron Spelling’s series from 1990 to 1994.
They would work together again in 2019 on the six-episode reboot BH90210, in which the actors played fictionalized versions of themselves.

Amanda Kloots, who was married to the late artist Nick Cordero at the time of his death in July 2020 at age 41 from complications of COVID-19, wrote: “I thought of you instantly Brian. Sending you so much love. So sorry for your loss.”
Kelly Rizzo, widow of comedian Bob Saget, who died aged 65 in January 2022, said: “I love you, man. I’m so sorry. Sending you so much love. What a long and special friendship.”
Actress Jacqueline Obradors said: “I’m so sorry, Brian. I know you two had a special bond. Sending you all my love.”
One fan expressed their deep grief in the thread, referencing the late 90210 star Luke Perry, who died in 2019 at age 52 following a stroke.
“I can’t stop crying I’m so heartbroken!” the user said. “I can’t believe it! I know Shannen went back to chemo but this is shocking! She’s now reunited with her dad and Luke… Rest in peace beautiful angel Shannen Doherty.”
One fan said: “Big hug to you, her friends and family. This is so hard for the fans. She fought a long hard battle with fierceness, honesty and grace. May her memory be eternal.”
Green hosted a major Beverly Hills, 90210 event that paid tribute to Doherty amid news of her death following her lengthy health battle.

Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman in the series, said: “So young, so sad. Rest in peace Shannen. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you.”
Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on the show, called Doherty “one of the strongest people I’ve ever met” in an Instagram post.
Garth added: “Our connection was real and honest. We were often pitted against each other, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was built on mutual respect and admiration.
“She was brave, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and always honor her deeply in my heart and memories.”

‘The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog, Bowie. The family asks for privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.’
Green, who turns 51 on Monday, is a father to five sons: Kassius Lijah, 22, with Vanessa Marcil, 55; and Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, seven, with ex-wife Megan Fox, 38; and Zane, two, with fiancée Sharna Burgess, 38.
