A man has been charged after bricks of methamphetamine and cocaine worth $18 million were allegedly discovered hidden inside the doors of his Toyota Corolla.
Police detained the 26-year-old man as he attempted to cross the border into Melbourne from Gundagai, in southeastern New South Wales, at 9.40am on Tuesday.
Officers allegedly found 25kg of methylamphetamine and 10kg of cocaine hidden inside the front and passenger door cavities.
Upon closer inspection of the bricks, some were found covered with photographs of Russian President Vladimir Putin sitting at a desk inside the Kremlin.
The man was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.
He was also charged with being in possession of a DECCD (dedicated encrypted criminal communications device) to commit serious criminal activity.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Young Local Court on Wednesday.
Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
