Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, responded to Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal after the former NBA stars called a Texas beach “dirty” on TNT over the weekend.
Barkley made derisive comments about the city of Galveston while commentating on the New Orleans Pelicans’ 106-85 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Saturday’s playoff game.
Instead of “going to Cancun,” a common phrase used when teams are on the brink of elimination from the playoffs, Barkley said they should be punished with “going to Galveston.”
“We’re not even going to send them to Cancun, we’re going to send them to Galveston with that dirty water that’s going to wash ashore,” Barkley said while laughing.
Knowles slammed the NBA Hall of Famer in an Instagram post, writing, ‘Chuck we don’t play in Galveston, Texas! You better watch it, you fool!’

‘Our water may not be blue, but it’s still the beach and we love it! In fact, what you probably don’t know is that it’s an island!!’ she wrote in the post.
The 70-year-old defended her hometown, saying she still wears a BOI necklace, which means “born on the island.”
She continued: ‘Jay sent this to Angie B and I yesterday! He asked us if we would let him talk about our city like that,’ ending her post with: “All good @charleswbarkley, we had a good laugh.”
Barkley quickly responded and shared his apology video on Instagram where he said: ‘Mrs. Knowles, I don’t want that smoke… Mrs. Knowles, I apologize. I don’t want BeyHive and Jay chasing me.

We will not give you any plane tickets to go to the beach. We will ship them** to Galveston, Texas, right where the dirty water washed up on the beach. “They can’t even get in the water,” Barkley said.
