Kate DeAraugo has opened up about using Ozempic for weight loss after his impressive weight loss of 12 kg.
The singer, who won Australian Idol in 2005, has been documenting her journey in tiktok and says his experience was “nothing short of fantastic.”
But he recently detailed the downsides of the drug by revealing the best and worst of taking this wonder drug for weight loss.
‘For me, the best part of taking Ozempic wasn’t necessarily the obvious weight loss. Of course, that was great. “I managed to lose about 12kg in about four months, but that wasn’t the best part for me,” he said.
‘Without a doubt, the best part of being at Ozempic for me was the freedom from the noise of the food.
‘I have struggled, struggled, struggled and suffered with the noise of food all my life. It is constant. It’s from the moment I get up in the morning to the moment I go to bed at night. I’m thinking and obsessing about how I’m not going to eat, how I’m going to eat, what I’m going to eat, all that nonsense that happens to me every day and the medication. I just took it off.
Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo has opened up about using Ozempic to lose weight following her impressive 12kg weight loss.
The singer, who won Australian Idol in 2005, has been documenting her journey on TikTok and says her experience was “beyond fantastic”.
Kate, who is currently pregnant with her second child, added that no other diet or weight loss operation she has tried took away that “noise.”
“Yes, of course, they physically stopped me from overeating, but they didn’t take away that food craze in my head, and Ozempic did that,” he said.
‘I could still eat normally, I was hungry and I couldn’t overeat. But I just wasn’t consumed by thoughts about food. Food just became food, and when I ate, I was hungry, I ate until I was full, and that was it, and I didn’t think about it again until I was naturally hungry.
‘So I had nothing but incredible experiences. And I would 100 percent go back on the medication if I felt like I needed it after having my baby.”
However, in another video, Kate mentioned the disadvantages of weight loss medications that no one seems to talk about, especially after stopping taking them.
She told her followers that she experienced significant fatigue while taking Ozempic, which she believed could be due to poor nutritional habits rather than the medication itself.
“The worst part of being in Ozempic for me, honestly, was probably the fatigue,” he said in a clip.
“I don’t know if anyone else had that, but in the afternoons I felt incredibly tired.”
After stopping her Ozempic medication to try for another baby, the “feeding noise” she had previously experienced quickly returned.
Kate stopped taking Ozempic to try to have another baby. She is now pregnant with her second child. Pictured with her husband Shannon and son Hudson, who is almost two years old.
Although she had some initial nausea, Kate said it was not severe or persistent.
‘I didn’t really suffer much nausea. “I did get a little bit in the first few weeks while I got used to it, but it certainly wasn’t intense or debilitating,” he continued.
‘So it was probably fatigue. To be honest, I’m not sure if that was the medication or the fact that I probably didn’t use the time I was on the medication as wisely as I should have.
“I didn’t implement more nutrient dense foods and all that kind of stuff I was still turning to sugary, processed, quick fix, quick hit types of foods, which obviously weren’t giving me the energy that I probably needed and leaving me with rapid ups and downs.’
After stopping her Ozempic medication to try for another baby, the “feeding noise” she had previously experienced quickly returned.
Her symptoms were more severe than ever, which she said was distressing.
“The eating noise came back to me as soon as I stopped taking the medication, and it was as big and as bad and as loud as ever, which was super devastating for me,” she said in another TikTok video.
‘Sadly, when I gave up all the food, the noise, the craziness, the binge eating and all the shitty behavior came back, and that, along with the pregnancy weight gain, I gained back all the weight I lost and then some. ‘

Kate previously revealed that she struggled with binge eating disorder in high school after struggling to feel comfortable in her own skin.
Talking about the disorder in his new podcast Why do I feel like this?He confessed that he would hide and lie to people about the food he ate.
‘For me, binge eating started very young. “Maybe even from the age of five, I was hiding and lying about my diet and diet,” Kate said.
“That was my first way to regulate those emotions and those out-of-control feelings of not being comfortable in my skin.”
Last year, Kate told 9Honey that finding fame on Australian Idol helped finance his methamphetamine addiction.
She said she saw drugs as a “solution” to her struggles with social anxiety and body image issues during her time on The Young Divas.
“I guess, if anything, I was maybe making a little money at the time, so I was able to sustain a pretty big habit pretty quickly,” he said.
“I had suffered from social anxiety and insecurities and all that during my teenage years and when I was introduced to drugs in a social setting, I felt like it was my solution at that minute.”
