After a recent comment made by actor Suniel Shetty during a dance reality show sparked rumors about his daughter Athiya Shetty’s pregnancy, a source confirmed that it is not true. It so happened during a recent episode of the dance reality show Dance Deewane, of which he is a judge along with actor Madhuri Dixit Nene, Suniel Shetty spoke about becoming a nana (grandfather). After reality show host Bharti Singh the Heri Pheri star about what kind of nana he would be, the actor replied: “Yes, when I come (on the show) next season, I will walk on stage like a nana”. Now, talking to Hindustani times, a source has confirmed that the couple is not expecting their first child. “There is no truth in the buzz. Suniel’s grandma comment was said in jest and in a very informal manner. His comments have been misinterpreted by everyone,” the source said.
The source continued: “They are both happily married and enjoying this stage of life. They want to expand their family at some point in their lives, but they enjoy this stage of life. There is no truth to the pregnancy speculation at the moment. They will announce the news and share their happiness with everyone as soon as it happens. The family will come out and share – because that is the nature of the Shetty family. For now, they just want the joke to be taken as a joke, and not seriously.”
Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul got married in 2023 after dating for almost five years. They got married in an intimate ceremony at Suniel Shetty’s Khandala farmhouse. The couple shared photos from their wedding album and announced their union on Instagram last year. In the joint update, they wrote: “In your light I learn to love… Today, with our dearest ones, we were married in the house that has given us immense joy and serenity. With hearts full of gratitude and love, we seek your blessings on this journey of togetherness.”
Athiya Shetty marked her Bollywood debut in 2015 with Hero alongside Sooraj Pancholi. She went on to star in films like Mubarakan and Motichoor Chaknachoor.
