There was drama today at Royal Ascot when the horse pulling Princess Beatrice’s processional carriage was frightened.

The incident, which took place in front of hundreds of spectators, was quickly brought under control by royal escorts.

The watching royal seemed concerned about the drama, before later stepping out of the carriage, smiling and unharmed.

The 33-year-old was present on the fifth day of the event, one of the biggest on the racing calendar, with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Traditionally, the royal couple arrived in a horse-drawn carriage on the fifth and final day of the event.

They were accompanied by Professor Douglas Antczak and Mrs Douglas Antczak in the carriage, while the Duke of Kent arrived in a separate carriage.

However, when their procession arrived, one of the horses pulling the carriage was startled.

Royal escorts rushed in to control the horse and keep the others calm, with the mother-of-one watching from behind.

However, she seemed to quickly get over the shock and was soon pictured smiling as she stepped out of the carriage to enjoy the day’s racing.

She attended the event with her husband Edoardo, whom she married on July 17, 2020, in an intimate ceremony in Windsor.

The project developer has become more involved in royal life in recent years, often present.

Today’s performance was just one of many high-profile forays the royal family has taken with its Italian real estate developer in recent weeks.

And the couple certainly made sure they were dressed for the occasion.

Beatrice opted for a navy blue midi dress with a white polka dot print. She paired the dress with a smart navy and white wizard and black heeled pumps.
