New Delhi:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will make a major revelation today in the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam, his wife claimed. Mr. Kejriwal is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate.

Here are 10 facts about this big story:

  1. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED last week in an alleged money laundering case related to the now abolished liquor policy in Delhi. His detention ends today and the investigating agency is expected to request an extension.

  2. Arvind Kejriwal is being held at the probe agency’s office in Delhi.

  3. The Delhi High Court has dismissed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s petition challenging the arrest and has given the investigating agency till April 2 to present their case.

  4. The ED believes that the policy created an impossibly high profit margin of almost 185 percent for retailers and 12 percent for wholesalers. Of the latter, six percent – over Rs 600 crore – was recovered as bribes and the money was allegedly used to finance the polls in Goa and Punjab, the agency claims.

  5. AAP chief’s wife Sunita Kejriwal said in a public address that Mr Kejriwal will make a big revelation today in the “so-called Delhi liquor policy case”.

  6. Ms Kejriwal said the Chief Minister would reveal the location of “money from the so-called liquor scam”.

  7. She also had a falling out with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over attacks on Mr Kejriwal after he gave instructions to ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj from prison.

  8. Despite his arrest, the party insists that he will continue as Delhi’s chief minister and function from prison. Earlier this week he issued two orders from lockdown.

  9. Protesting vehemently against this, BJP leaders held protests across Delhi demanding Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation.

  10. The US and Germany have also discussed the arrest and urged India to conduct a “fair, transparent” investigation.
