If you did not make a selfie, did you really go to the gym?
Taking a picture in the mirror lifting weights or flexing your muscles has become a ritual for tens of thousands of people around the world.
And a New Zealand gym has now launched the latest 'self-help room', equipped with large mirrors and special lighting so that its muscular contours stand out.
After noting that many of its members love a good workout, the Christchurch Anytime Fitness Gym Hornby thought it was a good idea to set up the dedicated room so that anyone can document their physical progress in private.

Fitness manager Xenia Traill said they noticed that other customers felt uncomfortable when others took out their phones to take selfies in the main training area.
"We have the kind of gym members who want to take pictures on the floor," he told NZ Stuff.
"We have members of the club who go downstairs to take pictures, which is great because they have confidence, but the thing is that it can make other people feel a little uncomfortable."
The room has a large mirror along the wall and special lighting that has been designed to contour the muscles of the shadows.
Taking to Facebook, the gym said they wanted their members to use the selfies room to focus only on their physical progress.

"We created the first Selfie room in Christchurch for you, yes, we know how many of you love to take gymnastics selfies," Anytime Fitness Hornby said.
"The body positivity is so important for us and to monitor the progress of your health and your trip to the physical state is very rewarding.
The progress photos to follow your changes and results are super motivating and a great reason to keep pushing more, so we created this space so you can take your selfies from gyms in private. Hard work pays the team.
"If you want to post any of the progress photos online, we would LOVE to see your results so we can see them." Gym selfies are like this right now, so keep us informed.
