The incident occurred on June 20 when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was wanted in connection with two armed robberies that occurred that same day.

Milwaukee police released body camera footage showing officers opening fire on a gang of carjackers after an alleged crime spree.

The incident occurred on June 20 when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was wanted in connection with two armed robberies that occurred that same day.

After the vehicle fled, officers pursued it when the vehicle entered a construction lane on a highway and collided with a cement truck.

When the driver of the vehicle backed up and struck a patrol car, officers opened fire, wounding 18-year-old Ashley Patterson and killing her unborn child.

Prosecutors have since charged Patterson along with her boyfriend Calveyon Jeans, 17, Semira Dean, 18, Tyrone Rogers, 17, and two other juveniles with a combined 20 crimes.

One of the teens was seriously injured, while Patterson suffered life-threatening injuries. She has since been released from the hospital.

According to a complaint seen by WISN, Dean is said to have been the leader of the group that called itself the ‘Crash Out Dummies.’

Prosecutors say they were robbing people and stealing vehicles in downtown Milwaukee and that Dean had stolen the car earlier that day.

The complaint says Dean also fled with “$200 and some marijuana” from a drug dealer, admitting to police that he stole vehicles to wait for buyers.

The teen told officers she had stolen four cars the day before and that the group had attempted to steal a rental car on June 20.

The complaint states that a woman was approached by three teenagers who demanded her keys and grabbed her before she was able to defend herself.

Less than 30 minutes later, another person was approached by two teenagers while sitting in their vehicle.

Prosecutors say a young woman knocked on his window and asked about restaurants before a young man pointed a gun at her.

The two demanded the man get out of the car before driving away. Prosecutors say Dean, Jeans, Patterson and Rogers watched the incident from another car.

After officers managed to stop the gang, they found a county sheriff’s deputy’s firearm inside the vehicle.

The gun was linked to a stolen vehicle belonging to a Waukesha County sheriff’s deputy in September of last year. He had left his license plate and gun inside the car.

Police recovered the vehicle in January, but the service weapon was missing. Jeans told officers that he, Dean and another person stole the gun last year.

Investigators say the gun was used in numerous other vehicle thefts before it was recovered from the crash scene.

Calvin Jeans, Calveyon’s father, told reporters that his son had a history of trouble with the law and that he had exhausted every avenue to try to get help for his own son.

The teen has prior convictions for operating a vehicle without consent, and all of the accused teens have “extensive records” involving stolen vehicles.

Police released the body camera footage after pressure from the alleged shooter’s family and the activist group Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.

The 25-year-old officer who fired the shots has been placed on administrative duty, according to department policy.
