- Teacher accused of child sexual abuse
- The alleged incidents occurred between 1988 and 1990.
A man has been charged after allegedly committing almost 50 historical child sexual abuse offences.
Police will allege a 68-year-old man committed 49 offences against 19 different youths at a Brisbane school while he was a teacher between 1988 and 1990.
The children were between nine and ten years old at the time of the alleged crime.
The 68-year-old man was arrested on Saturday following extensive enquiries and a search warrant at his address south of Brisbane.
He has been charged with 27 counts of indecent treatment of children under 16, 17 counts of abduction of minors for immoral purposes and five counts of common assault.
The man was refused police bail and is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
Acting Detective Inspector Deanna Geck urged anyone with information to come forward, calling the alleged crimes “reprehensible”.
“Crimes against children, who are the most vulnerable, are reprehensible and the police are committed to pursuing all avenues of investigation to ensure we seek justice for them,” he said.

‘I commend all the surviving victims who come forward and help police hold perpetrators accountable.
‘I want to assure you that what has happened to you is not your fault and that you are not alone, and that there are support services available to you.
‘We encourage anyone who has knowledge of this type of crime, is a victim-survivor of sexual violence or has information to provide in relation to this investigation to come forward.’
The charges form part of an investigation, dubbed Operation Whiskey Mott, into historic child sex offences following a formal report filed on 10 June this year.
NewsWire previously revealed that a Queensland law firm was working on more than 800 abuse cases in Queensland alone, the majority of which were historical cases of child sexual abuse.
Shine Lawyers Queensland personal injury general manager Craig Oliver said about a quarter of those cases related to abuse that took place in schools.
