Terrifying video shows the moment a man grabbed a teenage girl from the hallway outside the door of her New York City home and jumped from the stairs.
Doorbell footage from the Astoria, Queens, apartment building captured the moment the grocery store worker attempted to kidnap the 18-year-old as she returned home from walking the dog around 9 a.m. January 23.
The girl’s mother, Adriana Álvarez, 35, ran out of the house to stop the kidnapping attempt moments later. She said a fight broke out on the stairs and the incident left her daughter seriously injured.
The NYPD told DailyMail.com that the perpetrator, George Vassiliou, 25, of Queens, is the victim’s ex-boyfriend.
“From the fourth to the first floor we were stumbling and fighting,” Alvarez said. CBS News.

Police say George Vassiliou, 25, of Queens, jumped out of hiding to attack his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend before her mother ran away and she and the suspect fell down the stairs.
The incident left mother Adriana Alvarez with several injuries, including a dislocated shoulder.
Álvarez ran to his daughter’s aid seconds after she was kidnapped in the video. She told CBS that she sprang into action after hearing “the most horrible scream you could imagine.”
“It was just… a stump and a scream,” he told the station. “I ran out and saw this man dragging her to the fourth floor,” Alvarez said.
The NYPD told DailyMail.com that Vassiliou “threw her down the stairs,” sprayed her with pepper spray and “punched her several times in the face” during the attack, which took place at 25 Avenue and 43rd. Street in Astoria.
The video shows the teenager returning home with a small dog, before Vassiliou jumps over a railing out of nowhere and lunges at her.
She screams as he grabs her from behind and they disappear from sight down the stairs.
He “dragged her, threw her down the stairs and punched her several times in the face causing her pain,” the NYPD said.
“The suspect then pulled pepper spray from his pocket and sprayed her in the face…then threw her down the stairs, where he began kicking her in the back causing pain, bruising and a dislocated shoulder.”
“From the fourth floor to the first floor, we were just running around and fighting,” Alvarez told CBS News.

The teen also suffered bruises in the surprise attack inside the Astoria apartment building.
Álvarez ran to his daughter’s aid seconds after she was kidnapped in the video.
Alvarez also said the suspect had worked at a local grocery store with his daughter, until the relationship became “weird.”
“He started following her and started hiding behind cars,” Alvarez said.
Vassiliou is being held at West Facility, East Elmhurst, a prison for “inmates with contagious diseases” on $50,000 bail, according to the New York Department of Corrections.
The family’s neighbor, Gus Bougas, also ran to help after hearing the commotion. He grabbed Vassiliou, who ran away before stalking the mother and daughter across the street.
“We were touching and pushing each other,” Bougas told CBS. ‘I put my foot forward, threw it to the ground and landed on top of it. He tried to hold him down until the police arrived.
Álvarez praised Bougas as his “hero.” “God forbid, if he wasn’t here, he would have run away again.”
